Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m actually an old lady trapped in a younger person’s body. I don’t know when exactly I made the switch from wanting to have fun and be crazy to listening to NPR, but it’s definitely happened. Why wouldn’t everyone want to go grocery shopping on a Friday night, wake up early on a Saturday morning to go to the farmer’s market, and drink a warm cup of chamomile tea before they go to bed? I have no idea. Because of this, my boyfriend tells me that I’m 23 going on 43 all of the time. I’d have to disagree with him on this point though because my mom is 48 (I really hope she doesn’t read this because she will kill me for telling her age.) and she still has more of a bustling social life than I do. I guess that means I must be 23 going on 53 at least.
For this very reason, I was hesitant to try out the crop top trend that has recently surfaced on the fashion scene. I mean, an old lady like me has no business trying to wear a crop top, right? The more I thought about it, the more I really wanted to try it because I do find the look to be very appealing when done correctly. I figured as long as I paired it with the right pieces and balanced it out (i.e. not weary a skimpy bottom) that I could make it age appropriate.
You see? I did it! I wore a crop top! Maybe I’m not an old lady after all? Just please stage an intervention if I start joining Scrabble tournaments and complaining about back pain. Thanks.
